A Unified Voice for the Remanufacturing Industry
The Remanufacturing Industries Council (RIC) is pleased to release its Policy Platform, updated June 2026.
Developed by the RIC Advocacy Committee and approved by the RIC Board of Directors, the Policy Platform serves as a statement of the public policies that support a strong and competitive remanufacturing industry. It was created to:
- Clearly communicate RIC's positions on key policy issues.
- Establish common ground across the remanufacturing industry and among RIC member companies.
- Provide remanufacturing companies with a framework they can use when engaging with elected officials and policymakers, primarily in the United States.
While remanufacturers serve diverse markets and products, the industry shares common priorities that support economic growth, manufacturing competitiveness, supply chain resilience, and environmental sustainability. The Policy Platform identifies those shared priorities and provides a foundation for coordinated advocacy efforts.
What is Remanufacturing?
Remanufacturing is the process of restoring end-of-life equipment, components, and parts to original-equipment performance and quality standards. Through rigorous industrial processes, remanufacturing preserves the value embedded in products and materials, lowers lifecycle costs for customers, supports high-value domestic jobs, and keeps critical resources in productive use.
Remanufacturing strengthens U.S. manufacturing by extending product life, reducing material demand, and creating recurring economic activity from existing products and infrastructure.
RIC's Policy Priorities
Fair Global Market Access for Remanufactured Goods
Duty Free Treatment of Core Imports
Domestic Capacity, Innovation, and Workforce Development
Efficient Regulatory Pathways
Building Common Ground
One of the primary goals of the Policy Platform is to identify and communicate areas of common ground across the remanufacturing industry and among RIC member companies. By establishing shared policy priorities, the industry can speak with a stronger, more consistent voice when engaging policymakers and stakeholders.
The Policy Platform will guide RIC's advocacy efforts and serve as a resource for companies seeking to communicate the economic, manufacturing, and environmental benefits of remanufacturing.
