The REMADE Institute enables early-stage applied research and development of technologies that could dramatically reduce the embodied energy and carbon emissions associated with industrial-scale materials production and processing. They are one of 14 Manufacturing USA public-private institutes.
RIC is an Affiliate Member of the REMADE Institute. Currently, we are partnering with Caterpillar Inc. and the Rochester Institute of Technology on a Design for Remanufacturing project. The goal of the project is to develop a set of remanufacturing design rules that can then be adopted across industry sectors and integrated into various engineering tools and CAD platforms.
RIC members participated in the project by providing valuable input on the specific steps, features, guidance, and decisions designers should make to intentionally design for remanufacturing.
In addition, RIC members contributed to a workforce development initiative that led to the baseline report, Workforce Profile, containing direction and suggested areas for investment, partnership, and training development.
We look forward to participating in future projects with the REMADE Institute.
